Fun Vanilla Ice Cream Facts

  • Even if chocolate is a world favorite, in North America, vanilla is the most commonly liked flavor of ice cream.
  • Ice cream was first introduced to wealthy U.S. consumers as a dessert of delicacy in the 1700s.
  • S. President Thomas Jefferson has his first taste of the treat while in France and even wrote his own recipe for it.

Nostalgic Vanilla Ice Cream Favorites

  1. Ice Cream Sandwich – An early 1900’s invention that served vanilla ice cream pressed between 2 graham wafers. Overtime a soft chocolate outer cookie was used.
  2. ChocoTaco – Introduced in the early 1980s, this cold dessert looks just like a taco but is filled with vanilla ice cream, surrounded by a waffle shell and topped with chocolate drizzle and nuts for extra crunch.
  3. Ice Cream Bars – The cold treat served on a stick gained its fame in the late 1920s and made eating ice cream on the go easier. Vanilla on the inside, a chocolate coating on the outside.
