How to Make Homemade Snow ConesFebruary 23, 2016
Snow Cones are delicious treats that are served at carnivals, fairs, and events hosted by Ice Scream Social. You can make colorful snow Cones at home with a few simple ingredients you probably already have.
Combine ¾ cup sugar and ¾ cup water in a medium pan. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 3 minutes.
Remove the sugar and water from the heat and sprinkle in one packet of Kool Aid. Sprinkle it in slowly so it will combine better. Stir the mixture for one to two minutes so the Kool Aid can dissolve completely. You can use any flavor of Kool Aid you want or experiment with several flavors to create Snow Cones in a rainbow of colors.
Use a funnel to carefully pour the syrup into a bottle. Place the bottle in the refrigerator to chill. The syrup will keep in the refrigerator for up to a month.
To make the Snow Cones, crush ice in a Snow Cone maker or food processor. Fill Snow Cone cups with ice and put them in the freezer. Fill a large bowl with more ice and use a spoon to add ice to the tops of the Snow Cones to make them rounded. Pour syrup on top. Put the Snow Cones in ice cream cone holders to keep them upright.
